Bio/Description

Fabien Ngendakuriyo holds a PhD degree in economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in Belgium (2011). In 2013, he completed his postdoctoral studies at the Group of Research in Decision Analysis (GERAD), HEC Montréal (affiliated with University of Montréal). He graduated from the University of Burundi in 2003.

Dr. Ngendakuriyo is an experienced economist in research and policy analysis. His research interests include macroeconomics, international economics, development economics, quantitative methods and modeling, and finance and development. He has relevant working experience in academia and the regional integration arena in Africa. He published several papers in internationally renowned journals such as the Journal of Public Economic Theory, Economics Letters, Dynamic Games and Applications, and Mathematical Social Sciences et Springer Sciences.

From July 2013 to April 2019, he worked as a research analyst with the World Bank – East African Community Financial Sector Development and Regionalization Project.

In May 2019, he joined the Ministry of Finance in Québec, where he worked as the Economic Planning and Research Officer in the Office of the Deputy Assistant Minister until September 2020.  In this role, he was in charge of policies related to the financial sector. Since October 2020, he has been an advisor for the same organization, and his work primarily revolves around undertaking research and producing analyses to inform the decision-making process.
